Hi, I'm a 12 year old boy living in Cotzal, a northern part of Guatemala. I have one sister and three brothers. I'm a healthy kid, I really like language lessons in school and when I get home I help my family gather firewood. Soccer is my favorite game!
Around here, many families like mine have small farms where we grow maize and other vegetables to sell at the market. Our dads are often away for a long time working at coffee farms. You know, there was a frightful civil war here before I was born and we are still sorting out how to recover from it.
But guess what? Child sponsorship is changing things, including my life! Before help arrived, half of my friends didn't go to school because their parents could not afford it. Now, all of us can go to school and learn. We're given hygiene kits, our moms are learning about health care and our dads are learning new farming techniques.
I'm so grateful for the hope and support. My family and I are working hard to make the community better. Thank you!
