Dried soup mix rescued Alice’s family from devastating hunger last year.
“We were often hungry.”
“When we don’t have the soup, I go to school without eating. Sometimes I could not help [with chores] because I was hungry. I was so weak and fell asleep during class. I used to miss school because I was hungry or had to help my mother work for the neighbours; the payment was a little money or some food.”
Together with her mother and four siblings, eight-year-old Alice barely had enough to eat. Her home country of Burundi is one of the poorest in the world.
Thankfully, when generous Canadians gave to help feed hungry children last year, FH was able to provide Alice and her family with dried soup mix.
Alice is now a thriving little girl.
“This soup is very delicious! It filled my stomach that was often empty. I am now reassured that I have something good to eat before going to school. I feel strong and participate more in household tasks and attend school regularly.”
Hunger and malnutrition kill more people every year than AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined.
They pose a serious threat to children in communities struggling with poverty. But together, we can help stop malnutrition and give children the healthy, active childhood they deserve.
This soup mix is powerful!
It’s packed with vitamins, minerals, and protein that fight hunger and prevent all kinds of childhood diseases. In addition to feeding the body it also feeds the mind, preparing children like Alice for a bright and hopeful future.
