We are in the midst of a global food crisis.

The average cost of living is escalating. The COVID-19 pandemic decimated economies. Rising inflation and supply chain disruptions raised the prices of everything from food to electric bills. Fuel prices soared this spring and the cost of cooking oils, cereals like wheat and maize, and meat hit an all-time high.

There are currently 193 million people in the world considered to be acutely food insecure. Soon, these families are likely to start skipping meals. Some will begin to starve.

But you can help.

When you give a gift today, you’ll not only send urgent food relief now, you’ll also strengthen families’ resilience for tomorrow. Your generosity will help ship emergency food aid in the form of dried soup mix to the most vulnerable. And it will fund long-term solutions like family gardens. This help will make families independent of rising food costs.

Will you join us to raise $352,000 by July 31 to help stop the global food crisis? When we share, we all have enough!

How you’re helping fight hunger with soup & gardens

“Thanks to FH, I have been able to gain a lot of valuable knowledge about crops that I previously did not have on my own. Now I can produce vegetables that I never thought could be produced in my locality and that makes me feel very excited because now I can give my children a varied and nutritious diet. At the same time I can sell my surplus to obtain more income!” - Maria, Guatemala

“This soup arrived on good time. I did not produce beans as other community members because of lack of land as it is the general problem for us Batwa tribe. This food is of great importance and it will secure us at least for one month.” - Jeanine, Burundi

“My husband also is participating in the livelihood training that FH facilitates which are very helpful to us such as raising animals, growing vegetables, using organic materials, and cassava growing. They are lifelong learnings that my husband and myself have been learning since the time FH works here. These are helping us augment our income and provide for the needs of our children.” - Kay, Cambodia

"The time to fight for a better life is now and we will achieve it if we walk hand in hand [with each other] and hand in hand with God." - María

Two years ago, Maria’s husband Antonio went blind. Suddenly, Maria found herself solely responsible for providing for their five children. This was a heavy burden for a woman in rural Guatemala. Thankfully, Maria joined FH Guatemala’s gardening workshops. She quickly rose to the challenge and became the leader of a group of 10 fellow farmers from her community! “Thanks to FH, I have been able to gain a lot of valuable knowledge about crops that I previously did not have on my own,” Maria comments.

As a result of her FH training and the gardening resources FH provided, Maria can now grow more varieties of vegetables and produce her own fertilizer for her crops. She’s feeding her family, boosting their health, and saving money! “Now I can produce vegetables that I never thought could be produced in my locality and that makes me feel very excited because now I can give my children a varied and nutritious diet. At the same time I can sell my surplus to obtain more income,” explains Maria. With her income, Maria provides clothing, food, education, and health care for her five children.

And Maria’s not just looking out for her own, she’s also looking out for the other moms in her community by sharing with them her new farming experitize. “FH has changed our way of thinking,” Maria explains, “it has transformed it for our good and the good of our children.”

“Conflict, the climate crisis, COVID-19 and surging food and fuel costs have created a perfect storm…. Millions of people in dozens of countries are being driven to the edge of starvation. We urgently need emergency funding to pull them back from the brink and turn this global crisis around before it’s too late.” - David Beasley, World Food Programme Executive Director
