Malvern Chikanya

Uganda - Country Director

Malvern Chikanya is the Country Director for Food for the Hungry Uganda. He joined Food for the Hungry in 2017 in the Regional Office, where he served as the Regional Grants Advisor and was later promoted to become the Deputy Regional Director for Africa. At the beginning of 2019 he took up leadership of Food for the Hungry Uganda. Prior to joining Food for the Hungry, Malvern was the Regional Representative for a Dutch INGO covering Burundi, DRC and Rwanda. Malvern has over 10 years extensive experience in leading the delivery of international development programs in Africa, Eastern and Central Europe.

Malvern has a Bachelor Degree in Social Work from the University of Zimbabwe and Masters in Development, Environment and Policy from Sussex University, UK. He has a keen interest in evidence-based resilience programming, organizational development notably cross-cultural learning and leadership. He lives in Kampala with his wife and two children.
