My Name is Peace

Hiya, I’m a 13-year-old lass with a big family - 5 sisters and 2 brothers! We all stay in a hilly place called Burukuru in the Mbale region, which is a part of Uganda in East Africa. We all communicate in Lumasaba, though some people switch between Swahili, Luganda, and English. Our Uganda is really pretty with a lot of animals and yum-yum foods like matoke and mangos. But not everyone's lucky due to a long war that left many people poor.

At school I’m learning lots of interesting things. English is my favourite. Once back, I help at home by scrubbing the dishes. I also love playing netball with my mates. Thanks to the helping hands at FH, now we get proper schooling, go to health clinics when we’re not feeling okay, partake in clubs, and mingle with other neighbourhood kids. They’re also teaching our folks better farming techniques to help us have more food. So even in our hard times, we're doing great in farming then ever before. They support us and teach us the way forward and give us hope in our tough journey. Please keep us in your prayers as we strive to make life better in our little village.
