My Name is Esther

Hi there! I'm an 11-year-old girl living in the mountainous village of Bumutsopa, in eastern Uganda. I have three sisters and we speak Lumasaba in my home - that's our local language. We're among 1,094 families in our community. My favourite subject at school is English, probably because I love helping my sisters with it when I get home. I also help my folks by washing our family's dishes. When I'm not busy with those things, I love playing netball!

Life here in Uganda is simple, but it's not always easy. The history of civil war left us poor, with not enough food or clean water. But thanks to your sponsorship, things are looking up! Now, we're learning how to better care for our crops, raise animals and even make plans for our village's future. I can also go to school, and if I ever feel sick, I can visit our local clinic. It's changing my reality! So, please keep my family, my village and me in your prayers. We're doing our best to beat poverty. Thanks for giving me hope and a helping hand!
