Care for Kids Project

Children are innocent victims of poverty and often the first to suffer from lack of food, clean water and healthy sanitation. At Food for the Hungry we believe we have a special calling to care for them. FH’s Child Development Program is designed to benefit the entire community: it works together with parents and community leaders to ensure that all children receive hope for their future. Your support of this project allows FH staff to provide access to food, education, medical care and clothing to needy children.

Healthy Community Living Project

This project seeks to improve health habits, general sanitation, and the hygiene and nutrition of the children and families through preventive health education. This program will directly impact 5,601 people. Some of the main activities include: recruitment and training of volunteer health promoters in areas of primary health, first aid, nutrition, disease prevention, and environmental sanitation, pinpointing the key sources of cases of sickness (children with malnutrition, respiratory problems, digestive issues, etc.) to health establishments, promoting health and sanitation campaigns, and providing visits by FH staff to the activities put on by the promoters with in their own communities.

Health for Families

FH Canada's International Medical Equipment Distribution (IMED) program delivers hope, health and life-saving medical equipment to communities who are often unable to meet even the most basic medical needs. This project supports this community’s growth of medical sustainability and, ultimately, its member’s physical wellness.

Let’s Keep Learning: Post Secondary Education Project

FH Canada believes that youth ought to be allowed to fulfill their God-given potential and it has been our experience that if given the opportunity and the appropriate social-economic support, students will surpass expectations. This project has been developed to help high school students further their studies by attending university.

• Shipping costs covered to send 37,500 CROCS to kids in Burundi whose cracked, bare feet expose them to critical health concerns such as ticks, parasites and infection from open sores.

• Life saving medical supplies for clinics in Guatemala.
• Food rations for families devastated by typhoons in the Philippines.
